Irish Youth Dance Festival
This festival happens annually at the Pavilion Theatre in Dun Laoghaire during the summer. Dublin Youth Dance Company, DYDC, select new work from Irish and international choreographers bringing together youth dance groups on stage and producing more than a festival but a celebration of dance, music and youth arts.
The Irish Youth Dance Festival, hosted by DYDC and its artistic director Mariam Ribón, in partnership with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Arts Office, which this summer celebrates its 10 years, is a platform for National youth dance groups and also offers opportunities for young professional dance artists to showcase new work. It aims to raise the profile of youth dance in Ireland encouraging young talents to develop and grow in their artistic and personal pursuits.
10th Irish Youth Dance Festival Programme
The 10th Annual Irish Youth Dance Festival will take place on June 26 & 27. The main stage performance will be the Pavilion Theatre in Dun Laoghaire on Saturday, June 26 at 8.00 pm. Tickets are from €10 to €14 and booking can be done online or by telephone, contacting the venue at (01) 2312929.
Dublin Youth Dance Company has just released the programme for this widely recognized youth dance festival that showcases the finest young dancers in new dance works created by both new and established choreographers.
The line-up includes hosts Dublin Youth Dance Company, Ballet West, CoisCéim Creative Steps, the College of Dance, Company B, Inchicore College of Further Education, Kerry Youth Dance Theatre, National Youth Dance Company, Tallaght Youth Dance Company and Wexford Youth Dance Company.
This year’s guest companies are returning company, Flash Dance, (Czech Republic) and Ludus Youth Dance Company (UK).
The Atelier Festival will be held on Sunday, June 27 at Dance Theatre of Ireland’s Centre for Dance, Dun Laoghaire. Guest teachers from Dance Theatre of Ireland and Catherine Young will lead workshops and classes, after which there will be atelier performances. The 9th Irish Youth Dance Festival took place on the 4th of July at The Pavilion Theatre following by The Atelier Festival at Dance Theatre of Ireland the next day with a huge success, highlighting the participation of Flash Dance, a youth dance group from The Check Republic.
